It has been suggested that about 95% of Europeans can trace their ancestry to just 7 women! (Brian Sykes: The Seven Daughters of Eve). In technical terms these women are the founding mothers of haplogroups, labelled H, J, K, T, U, V and X. Other haplogroups cover the remainder of the globe.
